Energy Advantage is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Junior Sustainability Analyst to join our growing team.
The Junior Sustainability Analyst will support Energy Advantage’s client services and program management teams to deliver high-quality sustainability services. This role will act as the day-to-day contact between clients and the EA delivery team, coordinating service delivery, supporting data management and reporting, and contributing to the development and execution of sustainability strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general support for client service activities and business development initiatives within the ESG reporting and sustainability offering.
- Serve as a direct client-facing point of contact, maintaining regular communication via phone, email, and virtual meetings; respond to inquiries and coordinate internal follow-up with EA teams.
- Participate in internal and external meetings, document meeting summaries, track action items, and support follow-up activities.
- Collaborate with the Data Services team to collect, review, QA, and manage client data, including energy, water, waste, and GHG emissions.
- Support data analysis, reporting, and preparation of ESG deliverables, including dashboards, presentations, and research on sustainability trends.
- Track client deliverables, timelines, and milestones in close coordination with EA service leads.
- Contribute to the production of ESG disclosures and sustainability reports (e.g., GHG Inventories, CDP, GRESB, EWRB, and Energy Star Portfolio Manager updates).
- Coordinate utility data collection, sustainability surveys, and data verification.
- Draft and maintain program documentation such as workflow charts, project plans, platform training materials, and process manuals.
- Stay current on emerging ESG regulations, standards, and reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, ISSB, SASB, GRI) and integrate best practices into client engagements.
Qualifications
- University/College degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Data Management, Sustainability, Energy Management, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, sustainability, energy management, or climate change consulting (internships or co-ops included).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, synthesize, and communicate complex qualitative and quantitative data.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to multitask, work collaboratively in team settings, and manage competing priorities.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive and adaptable mindset.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada and residing in Canada.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP, GRESB, ISSB, CSRD).
- Experience with ESG data platforms and/or energy management software.
- Understanding of GHG accounting principles (Scopes 1, 2, and 3).
- Exposure to regulatory disclosure requirements and voluntary reporting programs.
- Knowledge of carbon markets, energy efficiency, and net-zero strategies is an advantage.
